Meet Valeria

I grew up in Paris, lived in Brooklyn for over 20 years, and reside now in Southern Arizona.

My Italian mother brought me to life at the American Hospital in Paris. My Tuscan family instilled in me rigor, ethics, pride, and the art of cooking.

I studied at the ENSAAMA School of Art & Design in Paris and started my professional career as an art director in fashion magazines. There, I met the "crème de la crème" fashionistas and developed my sense of style defined by a cross-cultural “je ne sais quoi”.

In New York I found my place in a family of jazz musicians, and married a talented exuberant saxophonist. His Mexican origins brought me to connect with a culture that reminded me of mine and made me fall in love with the Sonoran Desert.

My tools are black ink, clay, oil, and gouache paint. My artwork is infused with my background complexity: chic and loud, red lipstick and cowboy hat, delicate black lines and bold shapes, classical subjects and emotive abstraction.
